Riviera|cc is a growing, multi-campus church based across Gippsland, Victoria. We are passionate about helping people know Jesus, find community and live with purpose. We believe the local church has an incredible opportunity to invest in the next generation — helping young people discover who they are in Christ, build strong relationships and develop a faith that lasts. We are looking for a passionate and relational Youth Pastor to lead and develop our youth ministry at our Bairnsdale campus.

About the Role

The Youth Pastor will provide leadership, pastoral care and vision for the youth ministry at Riviera|cc Bairnsdale. This is a part-time position, with the possibility of a full-time role for the right candidate, depending on experience, gifting and the potential to take on additional responsibilities within the wider ministry of Riviera|cc. We are looking for someone who loves young people, loves Jesus and wants to create an environment where teenagers can encounter God, build authentic friendships and grow as disciples of Jesus. Previous youth ministry or pastoral experience is highly regarded, but is not essential.

On-the-job training, mentoring and support will be provided to the right person.

 

An Exciting Transition Opportunity

This role comes at an exciting time for our Bairnsdale campus. Our current Youth Pastor is being repositioned into a Campus Pastor role, creating an excellent opportunity for a new Youth Pastor to step into the leadership of our youth ministry. The successful candidate will benefit from a close transition and handover with our current Youth Pastor, who will provide insight, relationships, context and practical support as you step into the role. This ongoing relationship will also provide continued support and mentoring beyond the initial transition, ensuring you are not stepping into the role alone. This creates a unique opportunity to build on what has already been established while bringing your own gifts, ideas, passion and leadership to the next season of our youth ministry.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Youth Ministry Leadership

• Provide spiritual leadership and vision for the Bairnsdale youth ministry.

• Develop a healthy, vibrant and welcoming youth culture.

• Lead and participate in youth gatherings, events, camps and outreach activities.

• Create environments where young people can encounter Jesus and develop their faith.

• Help young people take meaningful next steps in their relationship with God.

• Discipleship & Pastoral Care

• Build genuine relationships with young people and provide appropriate pastoral care.

• Develop discipleship pathways that help teenagers grow in their relationship with Jesus.

• Identify, mentor and develop young leaders.

• Encourage young people to discover and use their gifts in the life of the church.

• Partner with parents and families in supporting the spiritual development of young people.

Team Leadership

• Recruit, train, encourage and pastor youth leaders and volunteers.

• Build a strong team culture characterised by fun, honour, passion, inclusivity and a can-do attitude.

• Provide clear direction and support to youth volunteers.

• Work collaboratively with the wider Riviera|cc staff and ministry teams.

Outreach & Growth

• Develop creative ways to connect with young people in the wider Bairnsdale community.

• Build relationships with local schools, community groups and other youth-focused organisations where appropriate.

• Encourage young people to invite their friends and actively participate in reaching their generation.

• Help create a youth ministry that continues to grow both spiritually and numerically.

 

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine and growing relationship with Jesus.

• Has a passion for young people and seeing the next generation follow Jesus.

• Is energetic, relational and approachable.

• Naturally connects with teenagers and enjoys being around young people.

• Has strong communication and leadership skills.

• Is willing to learn, grow and receive coaching and mentoring.

• Can build and lead a team of volunteers.

• Is organised, responsible and able to take initiative.

• Can work collaboratively within a wider church team.

• Demonstrates maturity, integrity, humility and a genuine heart to serve.

• Is comfortable preaching, teaching or leading discussions with young people, or has a desire to develop these skills.

• Previous experience in youth ministry, pastoral ministry or church leadership is highly regarded, but we are also open to someone who has strong relational and leadership gifts and feels called to work with young people.
